The siblings, Alrac and Halva, watched as the two adventurer parties were crushed. Now that the problem was settled, they turned off the images projected by the crystal ball.
“It was just as I expected! They weren’t a big deal at all, onii-sama!” Halva proclaimed proudly.
“You’re right.” Alrac agreed. “However, we need to evaluate this place since it only has minimal protection.”
“Eh?” Halva made a questioning sound.
“Hmm?” Alrac returned it with his own.
Their conversation came to a sudden lull.
“It’s nothing serious… It was just some intruders, right?” Halva’s eyes teared up as she spoke.
“Is that really the case..?” He questioned her dubiously.
“Yeah!” She exclaimed.
Alrac folded his arms while looking at his younger sister whom had puffed up her cheeks, completely unimpressed with her brother’s idea.
“As expected of the long-named Knight of Judgement Commanding the Hounds of Depravity. He has various special skills, even though his skills mostly involve brute force.” Alrac decided to change the topic. “Speaking of conspicuous special abilities, it would be using the collars to make servants right?”
“Ahem!” Halva coughed purposefully. “Well, onii-sama! We will now proceed onto the evaluation of the Knight of Judgement Commanding the Hounds of Depravity.”
“…Alright.” He responded coldly after hearing her clear her throat before talking.
They watched the goblins under the goblin chieftain, Purukku, drag the prisoners of war on the small crystal ball. Until they arrived, the siblings decided to discuss something else to pass the time.
“Firstly, even though onii-sama said that the knight uses brute force, he’s actually using a skill in most cases.” Halva explained.
“Is that so?” Alrac asked.
“That’s right!” She informed him, puffing up her moderate chest in pride.
“At the start, when the group used [Interception Lineup] to increase their defense, he immediately used the combined skill [Rank Destruction] and [Iron Cutter], and broke through the enemy line.” She changed her usual spoiled tone into a polite one, as if she was talking to a student.
“So he wasn’t just a muscle idiot….” He muttered.
“Yes. To be able to see through the enemy’s skill is the evidence that he is used to fights, and is able to attack effectively.” Halva said delightedly, seeking his approval.
[TL: If you people can suggest a cooler name for 『隊列崩し』and 『鉄切り』please comment below.]
Skills… There are racial skills that are acquired from the moment when one is born, and also martial arts skills that are acquired by handling weapons. There also exist various magic skills that can be learnt by remembering the incantations.
Skills that can be used by one’s sheer willpower, or take effect automatically also exist. There are an infinite number of skills in this world. The strength of the skill will keep increasing if you use it continuously.
Naturally, racial skills are exempted from the tedious practice and training one usually needs to perform. Hence, people usually have several skills. Amongst them, there are also people who continue to polish just one skill.
Of course, the existence of someone who only polished one skill to the peak isn’t weak. Fundamentally, they also hold a lot of skills that can be used to perform diverse attacks. Hence, their overall evaluation is high.
“Next, by killing the warrior in the front using [Iron Cutter] and [Twin Slash], and mixing it with [Fear] and [Valor], he extinguished their will to fight. It was splendid.” Halva praised.
“I wonder if it is only because of [Fear] that that fellow ran away...” Alrac mused.
“Well, that might be also because there is too much of a difference in their levels. The success rate of [Fear] isn’t that high, but because his level was much higher than the adventurers, the success rate increased.” She informed him.
What Halva meant was that the people who invaded were only small fries.
“That reminds me, what about that magic attack? If I am not mistaken, the magician did cast a spell, no?” Alrac asked.
“That was just low level magic that reduces the damage taken. The blue armor also reduces the effect of flame, freeze and lightning as well.” Halva explained. “However, if the knight was hit with two consecutive [Spear of Acid], then it might have been possible to deal some damage.”
“I see.” He replied simply.
Seeing that Alrac understood her, Halva continued her evaluation.
“It was the combination of [Dual Attack] and [Gale Movement] that killed the two escaping warriors. I think the warriors were killed earlier because it was much easier to let the magic users escape.” She deduced. “Besides, the warriors took too much treasure.”
The treasure of underground labyrinth can be said to be equivalent to the lives of Alrac and Halva.
The money, jewellery, and the furnishings as well, and everything that was created at Underground Labyrinth was created using their souls.
Of course, everything that was created was the genuine article. Even if it was taken away from labyrinth, it will not disappear. However, if it was taken out of the labyrinth, the siblings would lose a part of their souls.
There still exists more treasure in the underground labyrinth.
Therefore, the loss didn’t result in immediate death. Nevertheless, if large quantities of treasure, or valuable treasure was carried out of labyrinth, both of them would die instantly.
To them, the treasure of the Underground Labyrinth was comparable to their blood.
Thus, the judgment made to kill the warrior whom had taken too much treasure was right.
“By the way, I wonder if it’s because it was the first battle, but he only used [Iron Cutter] to kill the warrior, and also used an unusual skill like [Coercion] of all things to intimidate the priest.” Halva pondered.
“It will serve as a reference.” Alrac merely said curtly.
“Shall we discuss about the defeated female adventurer now?” Halva changed her tone to her usual light one.
As the prisoner hadn’t arrived yet, Alrac gave the instruction for her to continue, and she did as she was bid.
“Okay. Well, for the female adventurer, I let him exercise the skill [Suppress] from the beginning. This skill avoids the high rate of death instead of just reducing the damage. Thus, the unfair [Unhealable Wound] which even high ranking potions can’t heal, with the only exception being recovery magic, will have its effects drastically reduced.”
“Did you plan to catch them alive from the beginning?” Alrac asked.
“It’s because onii-sama said he wanted it this way.” Halva said while grinning happily.
After she said that, Alrac remembered that he might’ve said something like that. He didn’t think too deeply about it, but the Knight of Judgement Commanding the Hounds of Depravity might have thought that he was issuing an order.
In other words, the Knight interpreted it as a way to showcase his power.
“I see….” Alrac mumbled.
“Hmm? Is there something wrong, onii-sama?” The girl fretted.
“No, it’s nothing.” Alrac, who noticed the mysterious action of the knight, replied with a perfect poker face without showing his agitation.
Halva stared at him blankly while wondering if there was anything wrong, but continued to talk for the time being.
“Against the enemy’s attack, he used [Parry] and attacked from that gap by chance. When [Suppress] is being used, it isn’t possible to use other skills. However, since the offensive ability of his weapon was high, it was able to cause damage without a problem.” She rattled on. “The skill [Weapon Destruction] that was used by the Amazon is a skill that only can be used once a day. It showed that she was pretty much cornered to have to resort to using it! The success rate for [Weapon Destruction] is very low. Although there is a [Weapon Destruction Increase] skill along with a bonus for physical strength and martial arts, all of them added up didn’t even manage to close the gap between them.”
“Is weapon magic difficult?” He decided to ask.
“Yup. I think that was why the red-haired woman was unable to fight afterwards with the other weapon skills she possessed.” Halva answered.
Even though it was just a low rank magic skill, using it will consume a lot of stamina.
Proper preparation was required to actually destroy the weapon.
“Well, if it were me, it would have been an easy victory.” Halva boasted with a clear sense of superiority.
However, Alrac knew that those words were the truth.
“Well, magic equipment is precious. If possible, I don’t want it to break…” Alrac sighed.
“Ah, yes! It wasn’t broken!” Halva replied.
“Well, [Magic Weapon Weakness] was maintained while using the long sword to inflict pain, but because of [Pain Invalidity], he doesn’t feel any pain at all, and will continue to fight until his life force runs out because of his racial skill [Armageddon Knight]” While looking at the upset Halva with his cold blue eyes, Alrac continue to speak.
“It’s because you run away when your life force is below half and you can’t move because of the pain.” Halva pouted.
Life force is the evidence of being alive.
When you get a big wound, a lot of life force will be lost.
When you suffer from a terrible disease, the life force will gradually disappear.
When you are fighting, there is a big difference between the status of having all of your life force and only half of your life force.
For example, if your chest was penetrated through with a spear, would you be able to fight like you always do? When you have a headache because of a high fever, would you be able to run like you always do?
Usually, it would be impossible.
But with the so-called Knights of the End who appear at the end of the world, they are able to fight at their best even if they only have a little bit of life force left.
Of course, there is a legend that claimed that they will appear when the end of the world is nigh, but it’s not known if that is true or not. What is certain is that the Knight of Judgement Commanding the Hounds of Depravity will continue to fight until all of his life force is spent.
“Perhaps if he didn’t have the racial skill [The End of The Knight], he might’ve lost.” Halva mused.
“It will become a good lesson not to underestimate human beings.” Alrac stated.
“Yes, you’re right, onii-sama!” Halva exclaimed.
If there was another person that used the same equipment, the Knight of Judgement Commanding the Hounds of Depravity might have been defeated.
Naturally, he would still dedicate itself to victory against [Sword of Faith], and would fight without holding back.
“Finally, I will explain about the collars that use [Servant Creation].” Halva declared.
“Oh.” Alrac made a sound indicating his interest.
“[Servant Creation] is a type of magic used to make familiars. It is the same skill alchemists use when creating automatons or a homunculus . The [Servant Creation] skill he used is called [Hound Creation of Depravity]. It is slightly different from the other [Servant Creation] skills.” She explained.
“Is it similar to how magicians use blood and alchemists use chemicals?” He asked.
“Yup! Besides, there are also other examples like a necromancer using dead bodies, and Arcana magicians occasionally using devil stones. However, what they mainly use is….” Halva trailed off.
“A human being.” Alrac answered.
“Correct~!” Halva said it with sparkling eyes, as if she was holding onto a toy. “The knight can use [Hound Creation of Depravity] on defeated opponent that’s not dead yet. For humans bound with the collar, all their wounds will be healed immediately, and they become fully loyal to the knight. All emotions and the mind itself will be sealed, and they will change into hounds that act according to the knight’s orders.”
“Why was the person able to use magic despite becoming a hound?” Alrac inquired.
“That is what’s great about [Hounds Creation of Depravity]! The person who was turned into a hound will not forget any skill or magic he or she had. It is possible to use the skill when ordered by their master.” Halva exclaimed enthusiastically.
“Certainly…” He nodded slowly.
“The hounds are absolutely obedient to their master’s orders. It doesn’t matter if the target is a friend, parent or sibling. As long as the master orders them, they will even kill their best friends or lover.” She continued her explanation.
What bad taste to have…
Alrac quickly swallowed back the word that he almost unintentionally blurted.
What’s wrong with it?
It’s suitable for people who lost the battle, or so Alrac told himself out loud. Halva could only give a thin smile in response.
“However, their intelligence also falls to the same level of a dog. Thus, they are unsuitable as conversation partners or puppets. However, if there is an opponent that’s stronger than the knight, or someone who has resistance against mental control, this skill can’t be used.” Halva continued to speak.
“When you say it like that… Is it only effective against women?” Alrac asked.
“That’s right. But I don’t think there should be a special restriction on gender..?” Halva murmured unsurely. “The range at which the hounds can move; is it only around 10 metres where the knight’s chains can extend to?”
“Also, what about food and excretion?” He questioned.
“According to the book, the hounds will become the same existence as the Knight. Therefore, it is unnecessary for them to eat or drink. Well, even if it is unnecessary, they might feel hungry! I don’t know anything about going to the toilet though ~ . It will be the responsibility of the master! Or should we just let them eat what they excrete ~ ?” Halva grinned widely.
Ignoring Halva who was bearing a wicked smile, Alrac thinks to himself that he needs to make a place to produce food soon.
It isn’t difficult to make inorganic things like gold or jewels. However, it is a different story if it were food. It is difficult to produce bread and soup instantly.
There is no choice but to have the goblins buy food for a short while. Instead of losing money, it would be drops of blood that are lost.
Fortunately, there is secure water source, so it looks like there will be no problem with water for now. Anyway, we need to become self-sufficient early on.
“Alrac-sama! Halva-sama! I have brought the prisoners!” A voice announced.
It looks like Purukku finally arrived.
For now, Alrac left the matter regarding food at the corner of his mind and gave permission for them to enter.
Purukku and the poorly armed goblins entered while carrying the leader of [Sword of Faith] – who was groaning due to pain – on a stretcher, and the tied-up priest, Derito, whose face was turning pale as they were brought before the masters of the labyrinth.
